New Year

Happy New Year!!

Mister Tom and I treated ourselves to a night in an inner city hotel for New Year. We had a lovely dinner and then went out for a wee walk to try some night time photos. These are a few of my results. Mister Tom got a super good one of me that I'm sure he will put on to his blog at TisforTom. I Think I could lighten the first two a little in photoshop and when I have time I will give that a go.

I love the effect that the blown out lamps have made in the photos.

All the lights in the background are gorgeous and it lights Mister Tom so nicely.

T&S is for Tom and Sarah

I put the flash on and put a blue gel over it and it highlighted the statue nicely.

We set the camera up and left the aperture open for about 3 seconds and it makes the very slow wheel look like its going super fast.

Gorgeous building down town. Love it!
We had a lovely night and are hoping that 2011 will be super exciting and even more fun than 2010.

Bring it on!

Who doesn't love swings

Mister Tom and I went and explored the wee park across the road today. Found a paddling pool which would have been amazing yesterday when it was 30 degrees. But yay now I know it's there to lie in on a hot day.

We found some swings. I think that any one at any age would find joy when swinging on swings and Mister Tom was no exception. He looked so happy and I managed to get a few snaps of him.

My man is super cute and I am so pleased we can laugh and have fun with the simplest of things.

Dying Bumblebees

The Beautifull thing about spring slash summer is that there are a lot of bumble bees buzzing around being busy pollinating and keeping the flower cycle going. The down side is that I have seen a lot of little dying bumble bees. I found one in our court yard and was fascinated watching all the ants coming along and having a feast. It was interesting seeing the circle of life happening in such a miniature aspect too.

This bumblebee I found while I was having a sit in the Square. I thought it was dead but then it started moving. Poor thing was slowly coming to the end of its life.

I could have photoshoped it to make it pop even more but I think it looks alright just the way they are.

Peace to all the wee bumblebees who work so hard.

I love christmas. I am really looking forward to heading home to relax with the family. In the mean time I'm getting in to the spirit of it. I love that in the square they have a direct line to santas answer phone which I took advantage of to request my presents.

I love the joy in children's faces when they get to talk to santa.

I also love that is summer and laxin soaking up the sun is my fav thing to do.

Christmas is the best!!

BUNNY

My parents gave their Twin grandchildren two bunny rabbits for their 2 birthday (One of them tragically passed away :( but we won't go too much into that.)

Mister Tom and I were lucky enough to hang out with them for a weekend before they were handed over. We go a little crazy of animals as we can't have any for ourselves resulting in quite a few photos.

This one is my favorite of mine that I took. The bunny liked to hide in the fireplace that my parents have at their house.

The light highlights just enough of the rabbit that you know that its there but it also almost
blends into the background too.

Super cute wee things.

Mister Tom and I go to the races.

Our day at the Races

Mister Tom and I

Tom took this beautiful photo, I love hands.

There were a lot of burly men checking and double checking the books.

Amazing horses racing past

I was amazed at the amount of drinking that took place at the races. Not many people actually saw the races.
Had such an amazing day and was a perfect opportunity for Mister Tom and I to practice our photography.

Road Trip

Haven't been able to blog for a while as Mister Tom and I love our internet too much and used it all up.
We went for a little road trip to my parents house last weekend to help them do thier garden up. I love going home it is one of the only places bar my older sisters house that I can truly relax and forget about all my worries and woes.

Cloud formations down the Canterbury plains are alway magnificant

I did a spot of sewing with the help of Mum. I'm not used to her machine and it was frustrating!
But she came to my rescue, Yay for Mums

It was an amazingly beautiful day when we gardened and I even got a little tan

I love Mums hands and the vibrant colours in this photo

I love hands and have quite and few photos of hands, Mister Toms hands look so manly in this photo even though he's holding a flower.

Gussy the Kuni Kuni

Iggy is a gorgeous dog

Maungati is the little Valley that my parents live in and it's amazing.

The sunset on the way back was unbelievable

Home Bound, it was such a good weekend.
Thank you Ma and Pa!

Giving the top a go

I have blogged previously about a Jungle print top that I love. So I decided to replicate it like I did with the dress. I also thought I would try to make a pattern so if it turned out well then I could make more and not have to go to too much trouble.
I am a big fan of recycling paper and I have heaps so have used that paper to make my pattern.
I just used double cellotape to put it all together and glued any loose parts.
Just like this!!
I laid out my top on the paper and drew around it with pencil. I checked and double checked this.
I made a seam allowance and cut out the pattern
I drew in vivid the inside line and made up a new sheet for the back pattern.
I then blue tacked it all together and stuck it to the window so I could get an accurate copy of the front pattern for the back pattern
This is how it turned out, looking pretty professional.
I placed it on the fabric I wanted and away I went with the sewing. Super basic pattern and easy to do.
Also Sewing is way better when your in your PJs watching trashy TV.
So after and shower and a change this was the outcome. Fits perfect and am thinking of a pattern or picture I could print on the front. I think it will make it look pretty rad.
Was good to accomplish something for the day.
