Buskers Festival

Christchurch's Buskers Festival is in full swing and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours taking photos and watching some buskers around town. It's an amazing atmosphere with hundreds of people from all around the world smiling and laughing. Good photography practise too!

This couple made me smile, I don't know why. I think it's because they look so touristy.
Check out this site . I think what they do is amazing. To see this mural slowly come to life using tape is pretty rad.
This guy happily posed for me. His Toilet could drive around and he toed a bath carrying a girl. Pretty funny!
Everyone needs a break now and again and this food caravan is pretty cool.
I loved how everyone gets involved and these girls were in their element showing off their dance moves.
Musings for the day, This was before I found my eye for taking photos for the day.

''Wasting away the afternoon trawling through books. Inspired by photography but lacking inspirations in the everyday things I see around me.
People all around me. So many faces soaking the sun up. Feeling the rays hit my face, arms and neck. I love the warmth that I feel.
Not feeling like I want to talk. My mind is doing enough of that for me.
Snippets of conversation. Being removed yet participating in this mass, this throng that has invaded the square. I'll try to capture this atmosphere through the lens and fail miserably.
Street artists, street performers accessible art to inspire those who will take notice. Those who are open to what is around them. You only have to open your eyes''

Musings

I think too much and sometimes I write down what I think. Often it's whilst sitting at a cafe drinking a Mocha. These are some I did a while back...

Am I 'cool' enough to drink coffee at C1 ?
Will I be the arsehole who takes up the whole pavement ?
Will I be the prissy bitch who always checks herself out ?
Will I ever get to edit something really really cool ?
Will I ever get dressed up to go shopping ?
How about I wrap some leather around me and call it a skirt!

*I think there are much sadder things in the world than what kind of cup you have your tea in.*

Golden Memories,
Fuzzy Memories,
Gray Memories,
Childhood,
Adulthood,
Yesterday,
Last Night...
What Will Tomorrow be?

Photo of the week

When Mister Tom and I go out taking photos we naturally use each other as models. This week my favorite photos are of my Mister Tom. These photos make me smile because I am so lucky to have such an amazing man.

On Saturday night there was the most gorgeous colour sunset. It was so golden it felt like we were in a dream.

We had fish and chips in the park and the sun was getting low, perfect for a few lens flares. I took quite a few of these because I just thought they looked so cool across Mister Toms face. I also love how it pings off his glasses.

Mister Tom loves old bicycles and wishes he had some for us to ride around the park together with. I like how Mister Tom really stands out from the background and has nice soft light on him.

I am pretty lucky to have such a handsome man to call my own. He makes for the perfect model.

Production Assistant

I am looking forward the weekend. I am working as a production assistant on a short film for Little Sister Films. I love working in a crew, it gives me the best buzz. It always gets me feeling positive about where I want to go and what I want to do. The crew are the best people, super positive and helpful.

My Afternoon

Today I walked in to town to do some photography. I found I wasn't inspired to take any photos but I had many thoughts that I just had to write down. These are my musing that I pencilled down in my little black book.

[I am a day dreamer. As I walked into town today to return my book 'Desert Flower' to the library all I could think about is what if Waris was outside the library and saw that I had read her book. What would I say to her? I went through a scenario of going to coffee with her and chatting about the book. This occupied my mind right up until I got to the library.

{Why is that woman dressed up in such a sparkly sequined gold dress and carrying those flowers}

I like day dreaming it is more positive than stewing in anger and sadness which I am known to do. I welcome day dreaming and I can be stuck there for hours as I go about my life. I often find it is a bit of a break if I am doing something tedious like working. In my day dreams I have met Oprah and had a whole hour dedicated to me, I've been called out of the blue with an amazing job opportunity, I've travelled to other countries and I have met many people. I hope that these positive day dreams will send out positive energy to the universe in turn bring positive things to me.]

[All these paintings from the 1800s talk about woman being pure and how important that is before you are married... What about the men?

"We cry our mothers tears and oceans pass through us from one generation to the next"

I like who I am. I've worked hard on me. I am strong

I was really inspired by the artists Roberta Thornley and Shannon Williamson.

I just don't get artistic Film!! ]

[ I like watching tourists take photos. I always wonder what they will think of that photo when they get home. Will it stay stuck in an Album 'Visit to Christchurch 2011'. Will they remember the name of the places they have visited. Will that photo inspire them in the future? Will they show it to all their family and friends or stick it on their mantelpiece. Will I be somewhere in the background. Am I in the all sort of photos in people albums all around the world? ]

Artist Captain Matt Gauldie's (Army Artist) Exhibition at the Museum
[The journey of the unknown warrior pieces were beautiful and emotive. I was really moved by a lot of the art work that I saw especially 'Mortar Cres 2010' and 'Cold light of Dawn 2010'

"Sometimes I looked around at the stark, dusty landscape and wondered how people could have been fighting over this land for thousands of years"

I had a lovely afternoon full of thoughts and culture. I topped it off with a gorgeous picnic with my Mister Tom at the park.
