Portrait

Tom and I decided to try some portraits today. We set up a white sheet against our window so a nice soft light was coming from the right for the main light. We also had a silver reflective board we bought second hand that we bounced up a little light on the left hand side. We just popped a black sheet behind too. I decided to not do any photoshopping on the photos because I think they look quite nice as is.

I really like this effect and I might get a couple of people in to practice more portraits and different subjects.

Back in Christchurch

Since the Earthquake in February Mister Tom and I have been staying Timaru out at my parents life style block. We have only just returned to Christchurch. Which means full cell phone reception and fast internet again. I suffer from a severe case of anxiety that hit full peak when the earthquake hit. I was incredibly lucky to have my parents home to go to, to recuperate and return in my own time.

In that time I have come a long way and I am really grateful for the time that I've had to spend with my family. I slowly started to take photos and get more creative (Not that I'm feeling fully creative just yet) I even made jam! These are some photos that I have taken over the past month.

Christchurch Earthqauke

We had another devastating earthquake that has claimed many lives in Christchurch.
It's messed up and frustrating.

My heart and prayers go out to those who have lost loved ones.

Things to Say

I have a lot of things I want to say but I'm not sure how to say them. I have a lot of feelings but I'm not sure how to express them. I have a lot of things I want to do but I'm not sure how to do them.

It has taken me 20minutes to write this.

I will blog when I sort out my mind.

Classical Sparks in the Park

Mister Tom and I went to Classical Sparks in the park on Saturday night. We took along a picnic and a bottle of cider and settled in. Once it turned dark there were so many photo opportunities and these are just a small selection of what we got. It was a really good night listening to well played music and being surrounded by lots of families. The firework display was amazing.

The big flood lights were great fill lights and subtly lit people from the side. It was enough to let light into the camera with out turning on the flash.

It was such an amazing crowd atmosphere

We are also trying to get some cool effects with our holga lense. I managed to get enough light into the camera to get a wee bit of definition on Mister Toms face.

Free Glow Sticks!!

The Fireworks were amazing and I love looking around at all the amazed faces being lit up with each boom.

It was a beautiful night and a perfect way to spend a Saturday night.
